Showtime Acquires Lin Manuel Mirandas Kingkiller Chronicle. Lin Manuel Miranda, of Hamilton fame, has a new TV series coming to Showtime. He will be the executive producer of the show entitled The Kingkiller Chronicle, and will also be doing the music for the show as well. While known for his success on Broadway, this wont be Mirandas first time collaborating in TV, as he has been part of some hit shows including How I Met Your Mother, The Sopranos, and House, M. D. The new Showtime series will also be an adaption of the Kingkiller Chronicle book series by Patrick Rothfuss, which has sold millions of copies and regularly been featured on the New York Times bestsellers list. This obviously isnt Mirandas first experience with adaptation, since his broadway hit Hamilton was based on the biography Alexander Hamilton, by Ron Chernow. According to Variety, the Lionsgate production, The Kingkiller Chronicle, has now been officially picked up by Showtime. The show will not only be produced by Miranda, but also by Patrick Rothfuss, Robert Lawrence, Jennifer Court, and John Rogers who will also be the showrunner. The series will follow an infamous wizard called Kvothe, who also happens to be a famous musician yet another reason why Miranda is a good fit for this show.
